Famous singer Eteri Lamoris Chkonia comes from Georgian family of a great musical background.
She studied with her mother Lamara Cicognia (famous opera singer in formed USSR), Renata Scotto,
Ruthilda Boesch and Dolores Ripolles (a pupil of Elvira Hidalgo).
Even at the beginning of her carrier she sang in various festivals and theaters such as the Verdi
Opera Festivals in Italy, in The BOLSHOI Theater, Festival of Tours in France, Haydn Festival in
Austria, Koblenz Festival in Germany, "Menton Festival" in France.
Eteri Lamoris Chkonia was awarded at nine international competitions. Seven of them were FIRST PRIZES.
Later she signed a two-year contract with the Arriaga Theater in Bilbao where she often performed
with Marco Armiliato, Luis Lima, Denis Graves, Vicente Sardinero and later Eteri Lamoris has
associated with Graz Opera.
The Spanish critics regard her as the "Violetta of the XXI century" in opera "La Traviata" and
"genuine pearl of the opera world".
After her international breakthrough in the role of Musetta in Franco Zeffirelli's LA SCALA
production of La Boheme. she performed at the following operas and theaters of Barcelona, Madrid,
Naples ("La Boheme" produced by F. Zeffirelli), Turin, Nice, Vienna, Stockholm, Dusseldorf (Lucia
di Lammermoor, produced by Christof Loy), Bonn ("Romeo et Juliette" produced by G.C. Del Monaco),
Nantes, Sevilla (La Scala production), Palm Beach, Bern, Venice, Trieste ("Les Contes d'Hoffmann" -
conducted by D. Oren), Washington ("I Puritani" and "Pagliacci" -at the La Scala production with
Placido Domingo), Pittsburgh, Mexico, Hannover (Haydn, "L'Incontro Improvviso" - under direction
of Adam Fisher), Rotterdam, Mannheim, Paris (with Charles Dutoit), Praga (concert with "Virtuosi
de Praga" orchestra), Rio de Janeiro ("La Traviata" produced by Sonia Frisell and Giani Quaranta),
Tours (concerts with "Moscow Soloists Orchestra" under Mstislav Rastropovish patronage), Oslo,
Singapore, Hong Kong, Parma and many others. She also performed the roles of Rosina, Euridice
(Gluck), Contessa, Dona Anna, Desdemona, Margueritte, Manon (Massenet). Of her latest works,
worthy of mention are her performances in Naples and Rome Opera Theatres of "La Boheme" and "I
Capuleti e I Montecchi" with Nello Santi, in Ravenna "Turandot" with London Symphony Orchestra,
tour of concerts in Hong Kong and Singapore and her debut concerts in Carnegie Hall with New
England Symphony orchestra.
Ms. Lamoris Chkonia recorded a CD of popular opera arias with Beaux Records of Berlin. She recorded the
new album of Spanish and Latin American songs and CD "The best from La Traviata" for Romeo Records
of New York (www.amazon.com; www.qualiton.com). Actually she finished new album "Virtuosissimo" -
arias of Bach, Haydn, Handel, Mozart and Vivaldi with Preiser Records of Vienna.
In 2005-2006 Eteri Lamoris Chkonia has a tour of "La Traviata" in Franco Zeffirelli production in Italy -
Florence, Naples, Barry and Milan, sings "Lucia di Lammermoor" in France. In 2006-2007 She Sings "La
Boheme" in Los Angeles with Roberto Alagna Opera, "Romeo et Juliette" in the International Festival
of Macau, tour of La Traviata in Hong Kong and China, "La Traviata" in Arena di Verona, recital in
Oldenburg Festival, “I Pagliacci” in Spain, concert with Vienna Symphony directed by Fabio Luisi
(DANUBE ISLAND FESTIVAL) concerts in Bolshoy Theatre and numerous concerts around the world.
Outstanding event on december 2007. Eteri lamoris sings in Christmas in Vienna with Jose Cura,
ViennaRadio-Symphony orchestra conducted by Karel Mark Chichon.
